The Chief—Great Horned Owl Portrait

This is a striking black and white portrait of a great horned owl in profile. His ear tufts stick straight up and his beak opens to warn others to stay at bay, forming an iconic image. He is ‘the chief,’ the king of owls.

This photograph was taken by the artist in January 2015 at a wildlife sanctuary in Western North Carolina. Printed large, just like his personality, “The Chief” is a metal print, which gives the image strong contrast and clarity. In the 18″ x 12″ size and matted with a white rag mat to a beautiful 24″ x 18″ wood-grained black frame, topping it off is a clear UV-resistant glass. The total size is 27.5″ x 21.5″.
