Lakota—Red-Shouldered Hawk (24″ x 18″)

This striking original oil painting depicts a red-shouldered hawk perched atop a rotting tree trunk in a marshy landscape at sunset. The orange light passes across the marsh at an angle that cast a shadow of the hawk’s beak upon his breast adding tremendous depth and dimension to the work. No detail has been spared in the depiction of this magnificent bird, and when you own this painting it will seem as though he might leap off the painting at any moment. The support is a Baltic birch plywood panel wrapped in high-quality linen. All traditional and light-fast pigments were used in the creation of this painting, which was painted in layers using the indirect method.
