This is a striking color portrait of a gray-phase screech owl. Harley, nicknamed “Little Odin” for this portrait, is a gray-phase screech owl. The smaller owls tend to hunt along roadsides. They hide in the trees and swoop down at tiny mammals in the clearings. So, they unfortunately have a tendency to get hit by cars in these modern times. That’s what happened to Harley. She was rescued by a man riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, hence her name. He took her to Steve Longenecker of Asheville NC, who is a professional and certified wildlife rehabilitator. And she was a resident at his rehabilitation center when I visited in 2015 and took this photo.
“Little Odin” is a giclee print, which gives the image strong contrast and clarity. In the 12″ x 8″ size and matted with a white rag mat to a beautiful 16″ x 12″ wood-grained black frame (see close up photo), topping it off is a clear UV-resistant glass. The total size is 19.5″ x 15.5″.
This photograph will make a unique addition to the home of any wildlife lover.
