Scout in the Clouds—Harris’s Hawk Portrait (16″ x 12″)

This original oil painting depicts a Harris’s Hawk perched atop a telephone pole with an abstract background representing clouds. The hawk looks sharp for prey as it takes a rest from hunting. No attention to detail has been spared as every feather is fully realized and the wood grain of the pole stands out, giving the entire work a three-dimensional feel.

This painting was painted by renowned wildlife artist Michael Scott Phillips using traditional painting methods. The work was painted on a linen-wrapped birch panel that provides the ultimate in stability over a long period of time, insuring that the painting will not deform or crack for well over a century if properly displayed or stored in the correct conditions.
